Equipment for Nuclear Power Engineering
OMZ has supplied equipment for more then 80 nuclear power units in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Bulgaria,Czech Republic,Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, India, China and Iran
The business area includes OAO Izhorskiye Zavody and Skoda JS a.s.
Izhorskiye Zavody is the only Russian/CIS manufacturer of the nuclear island infrastructure in a complete arrays for VVER-type nuclear power plants with power outputs of 440, 1000 and 1200 MWe (VVER-440, VVER-1000 and VVER- 1200). Izhorskiye Zavody has produced more than 60 assemblages of equipment for VVER-440 and VVER-1000 nuclear power plants in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, India, China and Iran.
Currently Izhorskiye Zavody is involved in the various stages of manufacturing two reactor vessels and four steam generators for Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Leningrad NPP-2, a reactor vessel for the Belene NPP (Bulgaria) and vessel-type primary circuit equipment for the Rostov NPP.
Since 1956, Skoda has been involved in technical programs in the nuclear power industry. Skoda installed the first gas-cooled heavy water reactor with a 150 MWe power output at the Bohunice NPP (Slovakia). In 1980 the company produced the first VVER-440 reactor, and in 1989 – the VVER-1000 reactor. To date, Skoda JS has manufactured 21 440 MWe reactor arrays and 3 1000 MWe reactor arrays. In addition, Skoda JS also supplied reactor vessels, internals, control rod drive mechanisms and other major reactor components. The upgrading of the Control System at the Dukovany NPP is a leading project in the current Skoda JS portfolio in the field of investment engineering. Valued at several billion Czech Korunas, it is the largest Czech nuclear project of the current decade. Skoda JS, as the general contractor, will coordinate planned shutdowns for the gradual replacement of the outdated control system with a new one by 2015. In June 2009 a contract was signed between Skoda JS and Slovenske Elektrarne for the completion of the nuclear island servicing power units 3 and 4 at the Mochovce NPP. Skoda JS is one of five main contractors for this project. Contract deliverables include primary circuit systems, fuel-handling, internal connecting piping and intermediate cooling systems. In addition, in July 2009 Skoda JS a.s. and French AREVA NP concluded a contract for the manufacture internal parts for the EPR-type nuclear reactor at the Chinese Taishan 1&2 project. This new nuclear power plant is being constructed by a consortium including AREVA NP SAS, China Nuclear Power Engineering Company and China Nuclear Power Design Company in Guangdong Province in the South-East of China near Hong Kong. Skoda JS has concluded a long term contract with CEZ, a.s., the operator of Czech nuclear power plants, for servicing the reactor buildings at all Temelin and Dukovany NPP units. Currently Skoda JS is focused on the market for VVER reactors in Eastern Europe.
